This piece is a visualization of a spiritual phenomenon called “astral projection”, also known as an “out-of-body experience”, in which a human separates from their physical body.<\/p>\n

Astral travelers are said to experience exploring the “astral realm” where they are free to visit any place on Earth and beyond this dimension. This takes practice and patience and people who may attempt to try should be mindful and well researched on the topic.<\/p>\n

I started the drawing back in August 2019 using <\/span>@strathmoreart<\/a>\u00a0toned gray paper and\u00a0<\/span>@prismacolor<\/a>\u00a0colored pencils. I had the idea to make it move so I put it into\u00a0<\/span>@photoshop<\/a>\u00a0and began blurring, transforming, and keyframing each piece. The sketchbook tracking was done in After Effects..<\/span><\/p>\n

I almost posted this 4 different times throughout this entire process, but i\u2019m so glad I didn\u2019t. This piece showed me that I am a patient perfectionist. This piece has also showed me that there\u2019s no such thing as perfect.<\/span><\/p>\n
